The Triple Gems of Jainism

Sat Tony SamaraThe Triple Gems of Jainism as the Path to Liberation from Karmic Bondage & Mundane Existence

Liberation (‘Moksha’) is a blissful state of existence of a soul completely free from karmic bondage, and free from mundane existence (samsara) – the cycle of birth and death.

A liberated soul is said to have attained its true and pristine nature of infinite bliss, infinite knowledge and infinite perception.

Such a soul is called a ‘siddha‘ and is considered as supreme soul.

In Jainism, it is the highest and the noblest objective that a soul should strive to achieve.

In fact, it is the only objective that a person should have; other objectives are contrary to the true nature of the soul.

With conscious vision or view, conscious knowledge and conscious conduct (the triple gems of Jainism) all souls can attain this state. That is why Jainism is also known as the path to liberation.

Mundane existence (‘Samsara‘) is worldly life characterized by continuous rebirths and reincarnations in various realms of existence.

Liberation is to align the natural attributes of the soul with the art of living.
