META-Health seeks to answer the following questions:
- why am I sick?
- why now?
- why this sickness?
- why this part of my body?
I believe that the body doesn’t make mistakes, it makes the adaptations it feels it needs to make in order to survive or to feel safe. Our inner systems are always working for our best wellbeing (otherwise we would never survive as a species) so why does it sometimes seem to go ‘wrong’?
In my practice I’ve learnt that dis-ease / wellbeing is a process. When we experience something that we find Unexpected, Dramatic, Isolating and for which we have No coping strategy (a ‘UDIN’) it pushes the body into ‘fight or flight’. Here our cells are adapting to the pressure of this stress. The type of adaptation and the location of the cellular changes will depend on the nature of the stress. In this stage we often don’t feel ill but rather we experience things like cravings for sweet food (for energy to deal with the stress), restlessness and an overactive mind.
Then at some point something happens that pushes us out of fight or flight and into ‘rest and repair’. Here the stress has shifted and the body now feels able to undo the changes it has made and make the journey back to balance and homeostasis. This is often an uncomfortable process where we experience things like inflammation, exhaustion, pain, sickness and fever.
If we can allow the process to work its way through to completion the body will come out the other side into wellbeing and will often be stronger than before as the process brings learning on many levels – learning for the body, and often learning for our mind, emotions and even spirit.
Unfortunately we, as human beings, often push ourselves to return to our normal activities before we’re ready. We take pills or drink caffeine to give us that ‘boost’, but what it’s actually doing is pushing the body back into stress, meaning that we don’t complete the healing process.
In time we will again experience some kind of shift – this could just be getting to the point where we’re so exhausted that we give up resisting the need to rest – and we become ill again. (This is why we so often get ill when we take a break or a holiday.)
For this reason learning how to rest, listen to our bodies, and give ourselves time and space to heal is so important. Good nutrition and hydration are also a great way to support our healing systems.
META-Health helps to uncover the root cause underlying a person’s symptoms. Once this is known and understood it can be addressed directly in a much more focused way. Having been through this process myself, I’ve also found that it gives me a deeper sense of compassion and the ability to forgive myself, which then allows me to ‘let go’ of hurts from the past. It has also helped with the inner questioning, fears and anxieties that used to plague me and make me so miserable, allowing me to learn how to love myself again.

My journey into working in the field of Wellbeing began when I joined an online course in Evolutionary Enlightenment. This caused me to take a hard look at my life – my career, my direction, my purpose – and question whether or not it was really right for me. The answer was No. I was lost, struggling and unhappy.
Searching for something that would resonate for me and that would support my need to grow, I started learning Reiki which, in a roundabout way, led me back to one of my passions: animals. Horses in particular hold a very special place in my heart. I love supporting owners to explore their horse’s physical and emotional needs.
I went on to study Energy Healing, Emotional Freedom Techniques and META-Health because I also love supporting other women who are experiencing similar experiences of stress and overwhelm. I love holding a safe space where they can discover that they have always had choices and the power to make their own decisions.
