Mohawk Wedding Prayer
Now you are Man and Wife
Now you will feel no rain
For each of you will be shelter to the other
Now you will feel no storms
For each of you will shield the other
Now you will feel no cold
For each of you will be warmth to the other
Now you will feel no hunger
For each of you will provide for the other
Now you will feel no loneliness
For each of you will be constant companion to the other
Now you are two bodies
But there is only one life ahead of you
Go now to your dwelling place
And enter your days of togetherness
May our Grandfather, the Creator
Bless you and guide you
For the rest of your natural life and beyond.
I work with Muskwa International Foundation Inc. which is an entity that was formed to assist the street children in the Philippines, mostly in Manila and Davao, the two largest cities in the Philippines. You can find out about their projects here Street Children and Natural Disasters.
The stories I tell here I learned from the Elders and Story tellers and I am passing them on with their blessings. These stories can be anything from 4,000 to 5,000 years old.
