Introducing Kim Wells

Kim-WellsSteve and Kim Wells, of Wells Family Farms, have been building not only a family, a farm, but also a dream. The need to transition to certified organic comes not only from the standpoint of a healthy planet and animals, but a healthy life.

Our farm is now ¾ certified at 632 acres with the remaining acres in transition. We sell locally at farmers markets and stores and ship our products to the east coast. Our product cannot on the label carry the organic seal, since none of our local processors are certified organic. We are in the final stages of expanding our business into the slaughter/processing area, to meet the demand of healthy beef. Our plans are to include a self-sustaining approach to this, with an aerobic lagoon, and compost facility. Eventually the lagoon will be capped to provide methane fuel.

In the meantime, we do our best to add great food to the choices our customers make.

We glean and forage off our land many wonderful items, including various berries, berry leaf teas, and nuts. Wood working projects catch our fancy more often then not, and we are happy to spend time making useful additions to our home.

Northwest Missouri, where we are located, is filled with the bounty of Mother Nature, with our lush pastures, sparkling water, and clean air. We raise mostly Black Angus, but have a throw back or two of white-faced cattle. Our goal is to not only realize our own dreams, but of providing a food source that can be counted on. We encourage folks to come on out, visit for a bit, see the farm, the animals, and the forage we raise for winter feed. It is a great experience for all, and we always enjoy the break!
