Introducing Joan Jacobs

posted in: Healing 0

Joan JacobsI was born in San Jose, California and immigrated to Israel in 1969 when I was eight years old. I grew up in a family of medical professionals, which to a great extent set the stage for my attraction to the medical fields. As a child, I easily absorbed the medical terminology, which was a part of my family’s daily conversation. I was intrigued by the human body and it’s mysteries of disease and health. I was also impressed by the despair and suffering of many around me.

My journey started when I was sixteen years old when I developed severe Psoriasis. In the midst of my adolescent years, and although the complete confidence I had in the field of medicine, I was told that I would need to learn to live with this disease. There was no cure. I was devastated.

I refused to accept the medical verdict and declared that I would do whatever it takes to find a way to heal myself. Little did I know at the time, that this decision was to be the starting point of a fascinating personal journey, but also of my entire professional career.

I discovered CAM (Complementary-Alternative Medicine) when I was in my early twenties. At the time I was a professional dancer. I immediately began an extensive study program. Simultaneously I began applying what I learnt to my own life and health condition.

As I deepened my knowledge and understanding of the principles of CAM and as I began to see the positive effects of the practices I learnt on my own health condition, it became very clear to me that I wanted to make this knowledge available to as many people as possible. This was the onset of my professional career.

I spent many years studying various therapeutic and spiritual approaches and continue to study and explore them to present. I had the honour to work with internationally renowned and extremely inspiring mentors.

I have been an active healer and teacher for the past thirty years teaching in both academic institutions and schools of CAM. I was honoured to be the first complementary practitioner to teach at an academic medical school in Israel.

Throughout the years I acquired vast experience in four main areas of healing; cancer recovery, chronic disease, women’s health and addictions.

The 3 main premises of my work:

  1. Human dynamics work from the inside out, therefore the only way to change what’s going on in your body or in your life is to change what’s going on inside you – mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
  2. In every person there is an authentic self, which is the intrinsic essence of who we are. Living by one’s authentic truth is vital to health and healing.
  3. Unresolved emotional conflict and one’s attitude towards oneself are the 2 most important factors in healing and staying well.

Thanks to my students who urged me to write, in 2009 I published –

  • my first book titled “Messages From The Soul – A Holistic Approach to Healing”. (http://bit.ly/IYGnEw)
  • my second book came out in 2013 titled: 10 Critical Questions Your Doctor Will (Probably) Not Ask You (http://bit.ly/1QUjy2n),
  • followed by “Beyond Doubt – The 3 Step Formula for Cultivating Unbeatable Self-Esteem” (http://bit.ly/1Ghxmkf) and
  • “Get Your Heart Out of Your Plate – Beat Emotional Eating in 21 Days”.

In 2011 I started hosting The Light Within – Awakening the Inner Healer Radio Talk Show on VoiceAmerica.com which was a significant expansion of my work and a truly incredible experience.

In 2014 I launched Unleashing The Healthy Self Online Program which shows people how to experience health by transforming negative thought patterns, resolving emotional conflict and by revealing their authentic self.

Ever since I chose the path of healing, my mission has been to provide people with reliable and practical methods to create true and long-lasting well-being from the inside out. I believe that every person can create well-being by awakening and living by their truth, and by managing thoughts and emotions resourcefully. I share my knowledge and experience with a tremendous sense of love and appreciation for the human experience and feel privileged for being able to spend my life doing what I love.

Much love and light to you all.
