Good Morning Happy Eaters of the World!
Wow is that exciting for us here in Northwest Missouri to actually be communicating with new friends across the pond!
We have had a heck of a year here, with as much rain falling the first 6 months of the year that we usually get all year long! Our fields were flooded, so no crops at all. Truly not so bad except no hay baling either and that is our cattle feed for the winter. We did make up for most of that because when the sun finally showed its face everything took off like wild fire, and we ended up getting almost as many bales in one cutting as we get in 3. We are finally edging into our fall season and the trees will soon be showing us those magnificent colors of every shade of brown and red!
Our sales are doing awesome, as in every week new customers are added to our list and this winter will see us driving all over Kansas City, MO doing home deliveries. I plan to get one of those really cool horns for my truck that will make cow mooing sounds! LOL that will be so fun! Instead of tinkling music and the kids faces lighting up with thoughts of ice cream it will be a cow moo and Mom and Dads everywhere will rush out waving those bills for 100% Grass Fed Beef from our Certified Organic Farm!
In the meantime I cannot express fully the absolute joy I have in the life we lead. We farm, we raise cattle on our organic farm, have a garden, (sort of!) and no time clock! The sun is our guide, the sky the stars and Mother Nature our compass. The higher power that gave us all that we are, is easy to feel as we walk in the timber or relax by the pond. Oh and fishing yes indeed, those pond fish make a great addition to our evening of fun and dinner!
Off and running and hope you all have a most wonderful week and weekend!
Steve and Kim Wells, of Wells Family Farms, have been building not only a family, a farm, but also a dream. The need to transition to certified organic comes not only from the standpoint of a healthy planet and animals, but a healthy life.
