Why “Age Related Illnesses” are a Lie that Doctors Tell You

Ann PeckhamWhy do they tell us these lies; is it that they are inherently evil? Or maybe there is another reason.

During the six or so years that they spend training to become a doctor, several things influence the ways that they think.

  1. They are very young and impressionable as they are unlikely to be much older than 18 when they start training. And as such will be likely to be in awe of the authority figures who run the show.
  2. During those six years they only have, at most, a few hours training on nutrition.
  3. The rest of those six years are spent learning about pharmaceutical drugs and their uses.

Therefore it is no surprise that when someone who is moving towards middle age comes to them for a physical check-up, and the doctor finds a slightly elevated level of cholesterol, the first thing that they will turn to, because that is what they have been taught, is statins!

I was raising funds for the British Heart Foundation the other evening and had to read the briefing notes prior to going on the phones. And lo and behold, right there in the paperwork was a whole section praising the health benefits of taking statins.

And as such with this level of support from the system, your doctor will not think twice about prescribing statins for the rest of your life!

But do you really want to be dependent on a pharmaceutical drug for the rest of your life?  And what are the un-highlighted side effects of taking statins?

  • Heart failure
  • Diabetes
  • Muscle pain and weakness
  • Liver damage
  • Dementia
  • Kidney failure
  • Fatigue and shortness of breath
  • Cataracts
  • Hair loss
  • Digestive problems
  • And even Cancer
  • They are also linked to depression, loss of cognitive function and memory, nerve damage and sexual dysfunction.

Pharmaceutical companies also don’t want you to know that statins seriously deplete your body of Coenzyme-Q10 (CoQ10) – the vital heart nutrient produced by your body that naturally PREVENTS heart attacks and strokes.

CoQ10 stops cholesterol from blocking arteries, it helps lower blood pressure and rejuvenates heart cells…  Yet statins destroy this essential ‘life spark’… diminishing it to such an extent that it reaches dangerously low levels. This increases your risk of serious side-effects like muscle wastage and pain, confusion, forgetfulness, disorientation, fatigue, liver damage, migraines, nausea and diarrhoea, to name but a few…

  • 75% of heart attack victims have normal cholesterol levels
  • Women who are taking statins are 48% more likely to develop diabetes
  • Lowering your cholesterol levels too much can put you at serious risk of dementia

If only your doctor had been given training in what can cause raised levels of cholesterol, such as;

Hypothyroidism

Which I’m sure you know is not health promoting, but have you been able to quit yet? If you never started, well done!

A sedentary lifestyle

Now I wonder if that has become a factor in your life more and more as you get older

  • Do you find that, throughout the day you are either sat in front of a computer or sitting in a car or in front of a TV?
  • Do you exercise as much as you feel you ought to?
  • What excuses do you come up with?

Alcohol abuse

Now that term can be used to excuse the customary glass of wine or two every evening.

  • That’s not abuse! Or is it?
  • As this term can be highly subjective it is far too easy to “assume” that your socialising or relaxing is harmless. I don’t want to come over as a kill joy; but take a long hard look at the habit that you have slipped into and ask yourself “Am I excusing my behaviour to the detriment of my long term health?”
  • I know that I used to drink alcohol more regularly than was healthy for me and I know the effect that it had on my health. But I caught it in time. And No, I am not a teetotaller, although at times I have been and still am on occasion. I find that having an occasional quality drink has far more pleasure for me now than polishing off a bottle each evening because it wasn’t worth putting the cork back in for half a bottle!

Low Fibre

  •  Highly processed foods – although I had been vegetarian since the age of fifteen, I had not had a particularly enlightened education as far as what constitutes a healthy diet.
  • My mother was definitely a meat and two veg woman and she could make an amazing Victoria sponge cake. From my vantage point of the other side of the equation, looking back at that, there really was very little health promoting nutrition within all of that. And I wouldn’t mind guessing that maybe you came from a similar upbringing, and I wonder if that is the default pattern that you have habitually fallen into.
  • Just because something is the “way you’ve always done it” does not mean that this is something that can ultimately lead to a vibrant and healthy maturity, feeling and looking younger than your years.
  • Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have the wisdom of your years with the health and energy of your youth?
