The Wheel of the Year: Imbolc
On the 1st February we celebrated the pagan festival Imbolc. This marks the turn of the wheel, or the time of year when our short winter days begin to lengthen, and we might see the first stirrings of spring.
My daughters and I have seen daffodils sprouting up in their usual places on our walk to school, although we have yet to see them bloom. We can also see green shoots of life on the barren branches of shrubs and trees. Mother Nature is waking up!
On a personal level, I celebrated a very quiet Imbolc. I took time on the day of the supermoon to cleanse my (dusty) crystals in order to charge them with fresh, new energy. I discovered a scrap of paper in a dish on my altar, and upon closer inspection, revealed a forgotten affirmation that I made during a meditation class about four months ago. It seems such a long time, and I was pleasantly surprised when I read the affirmation and realised that I had achieved that particular goal. My magick is working!
I have now ceremoniously cleared away the old paper, cleaned the space around my altar, and invoked a new spell to assist my current project. I will report back as and when that one matures.
