Thank You for the Days

Today I woke to a new life, the day stretching ahead, endless days stretching ahead…

As I write these words, I am reminded of the Kirsty MacColl song ‘Thank you for the days’

I love that song…

Thank you for the days

Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me

I’m thinking of the days

I won’t forget a single day believe me

I bless the light

I bless the light that lights on you believe me…

It feels today like a song to myself… A recognition that everything is a reflection of my own inner truth…

So within, so without…

And so this is my life now… An endless day….

Revealing itself now…

This never ending day started with Anadi and I driving to Barbati beach… My feet didn’t want to run there today. We arrived to an empty vista, except for George and Spiros getting their boat ready for the imminent summer season…

Sitting right at the waters edge, watching the sun climb high into the sky, we chanted the Gayatri mantra together, with the sound of the lapping waves our musical accompaniment…

We stayed awhile longer by the edge of the Ionian ocean, which looked like a blue gold limpid pool of magic nectar, beckoning us in to experience its rejuvenating powers…

And so we leapt into its freezing embrace!

Let the magic begin…

We swam awhile, the cold took my breath away… I started to feel dizzy and so I went to the shore to let the sun warm me for a little, before diving back into my turquoise world….

We both stayed in the water for a few minutes longer until I needed another sun break!

Sun, sea, sun, sea, sun ,sea and then out to breakfast on the beach….

I am in my birthday month too…

Nearly 58 years since I arrived here on planet earth… What an experience, the opportunity to know ourselves through the body…

I thank the days, those endless days of learning and experiencing. Reflecting now, it  feels that I have spent many many many days shedding everything I thought I was, to experience a deeper sense of truth within…

Thank you for journeying with me…

We will see now what this new space reveals as I travel without shoes, in fact without many possessions at all, not even a swimming costume at moment!

I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run. In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression. I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running.  I ran for England and GB for some years. My first international was in 1979, a three mile cross country race; and I continued to run at international level until 1993. Two of my best results were first place in the Dublin City Marathon in 1985 and 7th place woman, 3rd British woman in the 1986 London Marathon in a time of 2.36.31, which gained me selection for the Commonwealth Games.

As a little girl I ran barefoot for many years, and then I put on shoes to race around the world. Fifty years later I am travelling the world as a nomad with my husband Anadi and I have taken off my shoes and I am running barefoot again….
