Outer Reflects Inner
Yesterday I felt proud to be able to understand enough French to get our trapped, wet washing out of the washing machine…
The door was resolutely locked.
I walked 20 metres up the street – a notice on the wall advised us to do this to request we activate the dryers – I understood the notice too!
The lady in the laundry room – 20 metres up the road – explained to me that we needed to put a euro in the slot and turn it to the left… The door sprung open!
She then dried all the washing for me, and an hour later, I walked a mile back up the hill to our ‘current home’ with clean, dry washing feeling a great sense of accomplishment…
It had been a team effort, Anadi had started the process, leaving me in the car to talk on the phone to a client.. I had arrived to the ‘stuck door scenario’ and after our solving of it, he had gone back ‘home’ to work, while I waited for the washing to dry… I enjoyed the laundry challenge hugely…
Our clothes washing practise recently has reminded me of university days – sitting watching washing tumbling around…
Although in truth Anadi has been the main laundry person; he takes it as a time for meditation with no computer or work…!
So yesterday, I felt I somewhat redressed the domestic balance!
This morning I took Anadi on a run up to a fortress I had discovered in the week… It was so still and peaceful there with views over Nice, and Villefrance where we have been staying for a few days….
I clambered up the steps and felt a part of the energy of the building, perhaps I have been here before.
French is the language I find the easiest to understand, (other than English!) and my speaking of it improves quite quickly…
However, nowadays I notice that wherever we go, English is spoken, and the moment we have uttered our first ‘Bonjour’, it isn’t uncommon for an instant seamless shift to English to occur…
Note to self, practise saying ‘bonjour’ with a perfect accent, to at least progress French conversation beyond the first ‘hello’….!
I have kept returning to Villefrance, ever since I first came here over ten years ago… It draws me back… Perhaps it has been my home before.
If we listen to our body, it tells us what is resonant with our energy… We can witness our inner state from seeing what we are experiencing on the outside…
Are we comfortable, are we at ease…? Our outside is a reflection of our inside…
Everything comes from within.
So if we are uncomfortable in any way, then we must transmute the energy that is stuck, stagnant, painful…
And when we shift this inner state, our outer state will reflect this…
And now we are in Marseilles, where everything feels very different…
And tomorrow we are driving to Opedde to visit mon frere et sa femme Sue.
The path keeps revealing itself in front of us…
I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run. In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression. I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running. I ran for England and GB for some years. My first international was in 1979, a three mile cross country race; and I continued to run at international level until 1993. Two of my best results were first place in the Dublin City Marathon in 1985 and 7th place woman, 3rd British woman in the 1986 London Marathon in a time of 2.36.31, which gained me selection for the Commonwealth Games.
