Josephine Arthur
Josephine Arthur is an up and coming jazz singer/songwriter on the London jazz scene. Her voice is warm sometimes bluesy tone, and she’s capable of both power and fragility. She flawlessly sings a mixture of Jazz and modern standards, with swing, latin and funk rhythms. Her main influences has been Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn, although her performances are peppered with delightful vignettes based on very much more current artists. In May 2015 she released her Debut Album “Break Free” to rave reviews. –
Some of the original tracks are deeply affecting in the way they expose raw emotions. She is able, just by the turn of a phrase, to evoke soulful reflection within the hurry-scurry of life in the big city.

Excellent new jazz singer – HoBeWa
There’s a great tone to Josephine Arthur’s voice and she’s paired it with some of her own original songs, some of which sound like they could be the standards of the future. She gives an unhurried, subtle and deft performance, managing simultaneously to capture melancholia and hope in a single phrase. All in all, a marvellous accompaniment to both a lazy sunny afternoon and a hazy, bluesy night.
