Julia’s Podcast series Bodhisattva Conversations with….. Gary Stockton

Gary Stockton is the CEO and founder of Phoenix Heroes.

Phoenix Heroes is a British Veteran and non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC). Based in Colchester Garrison Town, home of 16 Air Assault Brigade. They support veterans and their families that are dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Phoenix Heroes do this by acting as a structured platform to place them on different community outdoor group activities, training courses and help them to gain employment.

They are focused on helping the families of our veterans too, because they feel that this is a very important factor of their support structure.

Gary served 22 years in the British Army, on leaving the forces he spent 5 years in Afghanistan and built a refugee camp in Iraq…

He shares with us his own life, the challenges he had himself transitioning to civilian life from army life and how he came to create Phoenix Heroes.

He tells us the model that the charity is based on and the wonderful way this means they can help the veterans form much needed communities and get the support they need to live fully again.

I have also worked in the lives of others as a guide, counsellor, healer and teacher for over 40 years.

I lived as a nomad for 6 years with my husband Anadi, but my inner voice brought me back to the UK in May 2019 and I have been living and working and running in London since then….
