Is “Roundup” Next to Your Skin Killing You?

We have all heard of the long term and disastrous effects of the Monsanto herbicide “Roundup” *. Some research has shown that its “life” in the soil is over 4,000 years. One of the worst ingredients in this killer is cancer causing glyphosate.

Recently, a team at the National University of La Plata, Argentina, had become concerned about the amount of chemicals used in the production of cotton and their ongoing effects. Apparently 85% of all cotton grown comes from genetically modified stock and, during its growing period, they report “The results from all commercial products (we tested) detected 85% glyphosate and 62% AMPA (metabolite or derivative of glyphosate). Almost 100% of the cotton produced in Argentina is transgenic and glyphosate applications are made while the cocoon is open.”*

Glyphosate is a known cancer causing poison. AMPA is formed when glyphosate is metabolised by the plants – or animals – creating a « cytogenetic toxicity which was 1000 fold higher than that of its parent compound.”**

Now, you may think that the tampon, pad, serviette or cotton swab/bud you use, probably daily, is safe. Well, it is not. Because after the cotton has been doused in these chemicals during its tender period of growth, the resulting cotton is then subjected to another cocktail of illness causing potions, including bleach and chlorine, to mention but two.

And the story does not stop there. Most people wear cotton underwear, and of course jeans and trousers as well as tops. These, research has shown, are treated with formaldehide so that they look « fresh and clean » in the shops. Formaldehide is « a highly toxic, colourless gas, (and) has been linked to skin irritation and allergic reactions. Even more worryingly, the chemical is classified as a human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.***

What can you do to stay clear of these deliberately used illness causing poisons?  For your clothes, wash them very thoroughly before putting them near your skin. For the monthly arrival of « The Curse », your period, stop using any form of cotton product altogether and use a Menstruation Cup. This way you stand to reduce your chances of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and a whole host of other potential illnesses by a huge margin.
