Is-ness/Not-ness . . . Some Notes on Zen

Not twice this day

Inch time foot gem.

This day will not come again.

Each minute is worth a priceless gem.

Takuan (1573-1645)

Whilst in the thick of writing my book, Spirit of Zen, making these simple notes seemed to strike a direct chord today . . . so, some notes on the is-ness or not-ness of zen . . .

It’s actually easier to say what living consciously with Zen is NOT, rather than what it is . . . due to it’s elusive being-ness.

Zen maybe or maybe not a philosophy for living, but it is not a prescription . .

It is . . .

Living with non-reaction

. . . non-attachment

. . . non-doing

. . . no-choice or choicelessness

. . . purposelessness, no purpose

What it IS, maybe . . .

. . .  opening heart and mind to signs from heaven

. . .  wisdom, or suchness

. . . living with humanity

. . . living with commitment and follow through

. . . living in the moment

. . . accepting the timelessness of your eternal being

And what it means is . . .

Men/humanity forgets . . . throughout our sporadic cycles of evolution we have often got a bad case of amnesia and forgotten the growing pains that got us through our karma to the here and now . . .

Meaning in your life is a myth . . .

You are not a victim . . .

Expanding our consciousness now, as humanity, means we find meaning in the cycles of life patterns we’re experiencing collectively . . . and we’re less likely to forget our history.

“Don’t know mind” means we just don’t know what our future karma will be . . .

Gasho, Susan

Susan Ni Rahilly has reached an interesting point in her life now that she’s in her mid-sixties: as an author/publisher and Zen, Yoga and Meditation teacher she considers herself “trans-genre”—a multi-dimensional teacher inspired by Ancient roots of both Zen and Yoga. These roots reach back to Divine Feminine practices and inspire her ongoing research into our innate abilities for deep listening and intuitive practice: awakening and accelerating our Spiritual Vision as change-agents for Humanity’s future. She is also the Spoken Word Artist SuZen.

Susan has launched the Membership for her website The Kindest Revolution – it distills all her teaching, learning and wisdom from the past 30+ odd years and she says it’s for the “Geniuses, Visionaries, Change-makers and Sacred Creatives” who can take our world forward into a very different future. It’s for the most sincere and dedicated. If this resonates with you, this is the link to the “Join” page: https://thekindestrevolution.com/join-the-revolution/
