Chronic Conditions in an Impersonal Universe
Some people may think that the universe sends us things as teachers, lessons etc. I don’t know if this is absolutely true and accurate. Do I think there is love, compassion and support in the universe (regardless of belief)? Absolutely! But I also think that the universe operates as a set of the laws of physics, sort of.
I don’t necessarily think I became a healer because of Lyme- while it definitely lined some things up for me that pointed in directions that I followed. A book jumped off the shelf that caught my interest. Might I have found that book (on Andean spiritual teachings) via some other route? Who knows? I think it is certainly possible that many roads can lead to the same place…
… and in fact I have gravitated full circle back to doing horse work. From a different place, more holistic and how horses can help, heal and teach us… which- I may have come to from a different direction. Again, who knows…
… and yes, I think some things “come to us”… either for our own work, or as an expediter.. in helping others. This is especially true, since one cannot heal/teach a path one has not walked.
But I do also firmly believe that not ALL things happen ”for a reason.” Sometimes.. things just happen. What we do with those, in those moments.. may be what defines us, or our path from that point.. but the event.. simply Was. Sometimes I think we want to believe the universe cares about each of us, a little more than it does. The universe is going from point A to point B… whatever those two points might represent. Sometimes we can hitch a ride as it is moving.. and it works to our favour. Other times, it travels like a wave, and we get swept along with it, whether or not we intended it.
This is a similar perspective to the healing stones from a medicine bundle (Andean tradition). People will become very attached to their kuyas. think of them as prized possessions (unconsciously, energetically). like a proud parent. And will become very distraught when one of them breaks (takes the hit for the person), or is lost. That stone was never theirs. They didn’t LOSE it. it was trying to get from A to B… and when you landed at its connector-location… it hopped off the train.
It had nothing to do with the person. It wasn’t about them (most of the time. sometime, it is.. either misuse, neglect, incompatability, outgrown, etc- just like any relationship).. but just as often… the kuya has its own work to do.
Anyway- I think sometimes the universe operates under those same principles. Too often we are mistaken in thinking it is more about us than it really is. However, as noted.. what we do as the outcome of those moments and experiences.. is what defines us, and can change the path we are on in some way.
In some instances, events are drawn to us, absolutely. Or we energetically create the world that manifests around/ for us. Other times, things just happen. The trick, and very hard part, is learning how to know which it is. On the one hand, we often want to disown personal responsibility.. *I* certainly didn’t create this for myself…nooooo.. On the other hand, sometimes we over-own things, either emotionally or energetically. I think this can be the case with a lot of chronic conditions- where, being sick, becomes the only permission (enforced) to STOP. To stop giving and giving to others, to slow down and stop pushing self… to slow down enough to listen/hear a message from the universe.. or change course…
But sometimes, I think it might be about calling the spiritual warriors up to active duty, as well.
Ultimately,I think there are a LOT of reasons for why things happen, including chance. That doesn’t mean any one individual is ”off the hook.,” just that it isn’t quite as clear and neat and tidy as many would like it to be. the universe isn’t always neat-tidy.. Life isn’t always neat-tidy…
So- some things that will be worth thinking about.. the role and function of Lyme or other conditions, in the greater, or human scheme of things. 🙂
I am an Education Specialist, Health Coach and Author. I work with aspects of the teachings I have learned from Andean shamanic and cosmology, to health, nutrition and education. Everything is energy. Energy must flow. Like water, when it does not flow, it stagnates and is not healthy. These techniques help your life to flow. I have been initiated into many of the ancient lineages and learned ceremonies, rites of passage and healing techniques. I have worked as a healer and done workshops and taught some of these aspects – passing the teachings on.
