Bodhisattva Conversations with… Julian Oakland

Julian Oakland And I  recorded this podcast 2 years ago!

Many things have changed since then…
I have put my shoes on to race again! I decided against running the length of the country barefoot and Julian has changed his job!

In this conversation Julian shares with us his running journey and how he came to start running in races and enjoy training to improve his times.

Julian started on the LIFFE floor as a trainee in early 1995, and next month will ‘celebrate’ 25 years of actually trading.

In this podcast Julian talks about his career as a derivatives trader and the positive attitude he has, that cross over and supports him in his career and sport.

He shares with us how he developed his resilience and investigates how he applies this in all areas of life, without stress.

‘When it doesn’t go so well there’s always tomorrow’….

He also shared with us his goals in terms of times over distances from 5k – 1/2 marathon and a personal challenge to run twenty five Ealing half marathons. He ran the first one 10 years ago – and each one ( including virtual during lockdown) since.

I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run. In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression. I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running.

I have also worked in the lives of others as a guide, counsellor, healer and teacher for over 40 years.

I lived as a nomad for 6 years with my husband Anadi, but my inner voice brought me back to the UK in May 2019 and I have been living and working and running in London since then….
