Julia Chi

My name is Julia Chi…
I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run.
In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression.
I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running.

I have lived from a belief that all that is required is that I know myself, and that I am true to myself, and seek to become the master of my body and my mind… That from this place I allow my true nature to shine and reflect in my creative endeavours and within my relationships.
An ongoing journey…!

I knew from when I was young that all I needed to do was to ‘run free’. To let the running take me where it wanted to. To stay in the step. To be in the moment and so to experience running as a meditation on the move.

I ran for England and GB for some years. My first international was in 1979, a three mile cross country race; and I continued to run at international level until 1993. Two of my best results were first place in the Dublin City Marathon in 1985 and 7th place woman, 3rd British woman in the 1986 London Marathon in a time of 2.36.31, which gained me selection for the Commonwealth Games.

Hearts Full of Love

Today has been a lovely day, a special day… A day filled with joy and love and connection. All days have this within their essence… Each day we live has the potential to be a special day, a day filled with love, connection and joy. The key is that we stay at all times connected…

Know Thyself…

Winchmore Hill became a party street today, a big wheel right in the centre, and a stage on the green, Morris dancers in the street…Art… Music, food, clothes jewellery, gin! Everything in abundance and people crowded, packed together, enjoying the summer’s warmth… Perfect for the occasion. I could hear the merriment outside the peace of…

Souls Journey…

I am on the train on my way into Central London… I have new jewels on my feet, pearls this time! The pavement was hot under my soles, as I walked to the station a sunny summer day… Beauteous feeling, rising spirit, freedom… Yesterday I wrote one line on a word document… My new book…

Perhaps I am a Hippy…!

We arrived in Covent Garden, just as the naked cyclists rode by! We were running across the concourse to make sure we didn’t miss them, and one of the street performers called out to Anadi and I, in a good natured fashion, ‘Run hippies…’ I laughed… ‘I have never been called a hippy before…’ But…

Yin and Yang

I lapped my huge grassy park again yesterday round and about loops up and down around… The big tractor was mowing the grass and so one field was super smooth summer cut green, and others were thick with clover, with patches that were damp delicious for my feet… And as I ran and felt once…
