Our Energetic Connections

Julia ChiWhile sitting waiting for the departure gates to open at Lanzarote airport, I spotted a tall man, dressed in casual clothes.
He could be described as a hippie, a geeky hippy… He had a big laptop, and was searching for the Internet connection…
I noticed him, and was interested in what it was about him that attracted my attention…
He noticed me too…
There was an energetic recognition.

‘Did you see that’? I asked Anadi…
‘Yes’ he replied ‘it’s all energetic isn’t it?’
We are all energy, vibrating at different frequencies, and it is said that 90 percent of why we connect and make any type of relationship with another is unconscious…
Our energy has recognised something resonant in the other…

In romantic liaisons, initially we are unconscious that we have been strongly attracted to something in the other, we recognise from our early years…
We have recognised both the positive and negative characteristics of our caretakers, and it is the negative ones that are ultimately for our growth, as we unconsciously see that this is the place where we can become whole; where together we can stretch out of the defences and adaptations and heal the scars from the impact of the negative aspects of our childhood…
Consciously we think we have met someone ‘perfect’, who is ‘just like us’, understands us, sees us, hears us, with whom we can live happily ever after…

Until the negative traits raise their head….

Once we truly recognise that it is all about energy, that even the experiences we had in childhood are to do with the propensity we came in with, we are more empowered to take responsibility for the course of our life and for our healing…

The energetic make up we were born with led us to have the experiences in our lives, as we grew up… And it is our unique energetic make up, that defines how we responded to those occurrences, people, situations and influences…

And so we arrive here, now, with all of our life stories…

The more we truly recognise that it is all to do with us, the more fun it is….

There was something in the ‘geeky hippy man’s’ energy that resonated with mine…
This didn’t mean I was going to ‘run off’ with him, and leave Anadi at the airport, or that there was, or is anything to do at all, with the energetic connection…
If we were to talk, assuming we speak the same language, we would find out what the resonance was about….

As we went to board the plane, Anadi said, ‘I don’t have any desire to dress that way anymore… It was great in India, but it sort of fell away…’
I glanced at the dots on his ears, where his earrings used to go, the still slightly long hair, and recognised my geeky hippy man was here beside me…

I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run. In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression. I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running.  I ran for England and GB for some years. My first international was in 1979, a three mile cross country race; and I continued to run at international level until 1993. Two of my best results were first place in the Dublin City Marathon in 1985 and 7th place woman, 3rd British woman in the 1986 London Marathon in a time of 2.36.31, which gained me selection for the Commonwealth Games.
