Power, Balance and Walking the Sacred Path

Teri DluznieskiFear is a great tool for manipulating individuals and groups into desired behaviour.  In schools, kids are teased, harassed or bullied into conformity, or as a punishment for not conforming to a social norm. This is a way of stealing someone’s vital essence, killing their inner fire, and stealing or damping that sacred spark of individuality.  It is also a severe loss of Personal Power. The individual either relinquishes their individual essence in order to belong to the larger group, or he/ she lives peripherally, in fear and guilt. Fear of those times the vast energy of the whole might turn its wrath upon him/ her.  Guilt for wanting something different.

This reality wreaks havoc on individual spiritual development.  We NEED that personal power and identity on our Life’s journey.  The victim of this existence often feels powerless.  And in a very real sense, their Power HAS been stolen, or usurped. Worse, the victim may be made to feel that the larger group is justified.  This often happens in school, where the response can be: well, kids will be kids; or, they need to learn how to manage and cope. That’s a load of crap!

Too often in Western culture, Power has a negative connotation.  Being in Power, a powerful person, etc- all those things connote power OVER someone or something. This is about the abuse or mis-use of Power.  The idea the Power corrupts. All-Powerful. The Powers that be. The idea embodied is that Power is something Above us, or Over us, rather than something that exists all around .  Power is something that we also possess and can use, on varying scales and degrees. WE also, have Power, both in the every-day mundane sense of the word, and in the more Cosmic universal sense. Power is the manifestation and use of Energy: and we are all energy.

In the Andean teachings, Power is about being in your own Power.  It is neither Power-over, nor Power-under ( my own term).  But power in itself is not bad or harmful, and yes- we do need a certain amount of power in order to be able to accomplish things.  Power, like money, in itself has little to no inherent “charge.”  rather, it is how we perceive, transact and interact with it, that causes those attributes.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed- it only changes forms. applying that same concept works for spirituality.  Each energy Bubble, each individual, is a tiny microcosmic universe.  Each Bubble has a certain amount of energy, your spark, your essence or your soul-energy.  Every interaction has an inherent transaction attached to it.  The goal is, upon exiting any transaction, be it conversation, romance, business: for each party to leave with the same they came with.  They may have enhanced themselves over that time, that is ideal. BUT, they should not be enhancing themselves at the energetic expense of the other party or parties.  That is stealing someone else’s power or energy.  Vampirism, essentially.  And it is no accident that today’s culture is completely entranced by that aspect of the occult: that which feeds off of and drains the life-force of others.  hhmmm…

But your power is who you are.  It is awesome.  Respect it, cherish it and allow it to flourish.  And when we are in our own power, grounded and centered- the rest of the world unfolds more smoothly.  The hindrances fade into the background, stirring no negative reactions or emotions.  They are wherever they are, on their journey, and when the negativity passes, compassion and understanding step in:) When this balance is attained, we are able to wield our power to create the world we want to live in, and create the Life we want to lead.

I am an Education Specialist, Health Coach and Author. I work with aspects of the teachings I have learned from Andean shamanic and cosmology, to health, nutrition and education.  Everything is energy. Energy must flow. Like water, when it does not flow, it stagnates and is not healthy. These techniques help your life to flow. I have been initiated into many of the ancient lineages and learned ceremonies, rites of passage and healing techniques.  I have worked as a healer and done workshops and taught some of these aspects – passing the teachings on.
