Love is Our Natural State…
It’s raining again ?
There is a rainy couple of days predicted for the duration of our stay… And then the sunny skies are said to be returning and we will be back in the UK for a little spell… It’s funny and the truth is we don’t mind at all…
I ran in the rain this morning and the roads were quite warm under foot, sweeping through the countryside and quite smooth too… Except in the old town of Opedde which was completely unrunnable… More than ‘ouchie’!
I ran past three work men who expressed concern at my bare feet on the wet road… I said I couldn’t speak French, only Spanish and this proved to be no problem.. We had a nice chat in Spanish by the road side and then on I ran…
I really loved my run, it was so quiet and the landscape so rich, so lush and so full of a character all of its own… I remembered years ago when I would come to run races in France, journeying through this land… Loving the freedom of the movement, enjoying the travel more than arriving – running a race in a town… Loving the fun, the fiesta atmosphere; the gathering of runners… The energy and vibrancy the occasions brought to the villages and towns – I was part of it, celebrated for my running speed, my joy of the footrace, and
celebrating in what I felt born to do… And then on we would go again to another town, another race which finished to the sound of music, to a party that had started the night before and resumed again after the race, under striped awnings – with trestle tables laden with food; wine and beer flowing…
The life I loved to lead – unfolding quite naturally through the running journey… To a race and another and another.
Each year in the summer I ran races in France and in Switzerland and I wanted the 3 or 4 weeks to go on in that way forever… And now they are…
We are having a very happy time here with my brother Stuart and Sue – who don’t want to be in my vlog ?
We have just come back from a lunch where we laughed so much and now I can’t even remember what we all found so funny; but we couldn’t stop… Laughter connects us so wonderfully, sharing over food and laughing together is a timeless and immediate joy…
Being together, relaxing together, connecting in an open hearted way with one another is all that truly matters. Clearing within ourselves to the extent that there are no areas within us that are closed to love… Places where we don’t love ourselves and so we can’t let others into…
When these hurt places are brought out of the dark and into the light, when love is breathed into them, then relaxation love laughter are the natural expression…
Love is our natural state, conflict the aberration…
And so the more we clear any inner conflict, the more we can be at ease in the company of anyone and everyone…
And the more we can be at home wherever we are…
I have been running all of my life – it feels I was born to run. In the running step I experienced freedom and my true expression. I came to see that I needed to ‘get out of the way of myself’ and let my energy flow through the running step; allow it to express itself in the dance and the motion of running. I ran for England and GB for some years. My first international was in 1979, a three mile cross country race; and I continued to run at international level until 1993. Two of my best results were first place in the Dublin City Marathon in 1985 and 7th place woman, 3rd British woman in the 1986 London Marathon in a time of 2.36.31, which gained me selection for the Commonwealth Games.
As a little girl I ran barefoot for many years, and then I put on shoes to race around the world. Fifty years later I am travelling the world as a nomad with my husband Anadi and I have taken off my shoes and I am running barefoot again….
