Migraine – What is it and Why does it Happen?

John OsborneWhat You Can do To Try to Reduce and Avoid them.

The general consensus of opinion of the cause of migraines remains “we do not know – it’s in the brain”! I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be simply to cover the fact that there are a multitude of possibilities, often the result of what goes into our mouths! For one thing is certain; in the modern food and drinks industry there are too many toxic ingredients allowed which should, in an ideal world, be banned. So, let’s try to see what are the most common causes.

In no order of importance:

Food & Drink – Remember that there are poisons deliberately added to things like Violet or other deep coloured foods and cordials; Red Bull, among others, was blocked in many countries until they reached an “understanding”; but chocolate, cheese – dairy in general – are high on the list of culprits. You need to look at what you ate just before the onset of the pain and then avoid that, taking each item in turn. Caffeine in tea and coffee is notorious; so is monosodium glutamate, which is also cancerous!!

Clothing – Cotton and other supposedly safe products come from toxic beginnings, are treated by things like Roundup and finally given a toxic treatment to make them look good! New clothes should be “deep washed” at least three times before being used. By deep washing I mean a long hot wash. A cool wash is often too weak and remember, the washing powder itself could be a candidate. Which leads me on to:

Air Sprays & Perfumes – Those of you who follow my Facebook page will know how I have harped on about the dangers of toilet air sprays – especially for children. They are almost top of the list for Head, Ear, Nose & Throat problems, Migraine first!  And we do need to add perfumes to this list. I know of many folk who simply have to leave the room when encountering these toxins. The non essential ingredients are put there simply to help sell more chemical medications. Why add chemicals to Nature’s finest aromas? The solution to the toilet sprays is on the Facebook page – it costs about 10p a month at the most. The solution to perfume is, like the chemical creams – use natural ones.

Stress – For many people, especially those suffering from such as Fibromyalgia, MS, ME et al, even the smallest amount of stress is a trigger. I have experience of a family member who used to be confined to bed in a darkened room for days at a time thanks to her migraines. But no longer – now we have found what to do to avoid it. But how to avoid stress in the modern world? Choosing a lifestyle that suits you is one way; another is to take natural calming agents such as Passiflora Incarnata. Please do avoid the products in the stores that are mixes of several products. They are only there for the benefit of the producer, not your health.

Hormones – Many people, ladies especially, at certain times in the month, are susceptible to a migraine. This is one that often defies an answer. One possible way to reduce this is by the taking of Wild Yam or for some the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine or Acupuncture from a fully qualified Chinese taught practitioner. Many Western acupuncturists have only a very scant training. I found one who was pleased to tell me he had received one week at a college!!! Be sure you ask.

Accident Damage – This is often not regarded, especially long term, but if there is a mis-alignment of the back or neck vertebra then this needs remedying.  If you have had an accident of even a mild nature, a fall could be enough, a visit to a chiropractor is well worth it. You have your car serviced regularly do you not? Then why not your body? And please do not think that a chiropractor is a “bone manipulator”. The modern chiropractic practitioner is very gentle.

This is far from an exhaustive list. There are other causes and remedies which I will happily help with. Please do get in touch.

You’re mixing causes and triggers here. There’s an enormous difference between what causes someone to have migraine disease and shat TRIGGERS a migraine attack.

As the National Health Service advisory web site confirms “The exact cause of migraines is unknown, although they are thought to be the result of abnormal brain activity temporarily affecting nerve signals, chemicals and blood vessels in the brain.”

My personal opinion is somewhat along the same lines as many of the things that the medical profession often ignores or pretends is a fiction, namely that the poisons dispensed by the food industry, the medical industry and the world in general, coupled with the stresses and strains of normal life exacerbate something that is already there in the body or more likely, the brain.

If we look at http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Migraine/Pages/Causes.aspx we can see that there many things to avoid besides those mentioned above. But in my experience many of the problems can be avoided by the taking of some natural products that can help diminish the triggers. These Include Passiflora Incarnata as required, Curcumin99(TM) on a daily basis – just a couple of capsules can suffice costing a few pennies – and sometimes an annual course of Serrapeptase Strong(TM) to help boost the circulation, clear the nerve ends of any rubbish there might be in that locality and have a helping effect in clearing the brain of any dead cells.

This may sound like medical science fiction to you but the clinical proof is very solid.
